Profiling cookies are instead aimed at creating user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user as part of network browsing. European and Italian legislation provide that the user must be properly informed on their use and express his valid consent, due to fact that these cookies may invade users’ privacy.
The subjective element must also be taken into consideration. It is necessary to take into account the different subject that installs cookies on the user’s terminal, depending on whether he is the same operator of the site visited by the user (which can be briefly referred to as “publisher”) or a different website that installs cookies through the first one (so called “third parties”).
